The Harbour House Hotel, Restaurant & Organic Farm is pleased to welcome Jesse Anderson as our new Food and Beverage Manager. Jesse will bring many years of island experience to the restaurant and is very excited to focus in on our farm to table concept.
Guests and staff of Harbour House Hotel have been treated to the sight of healthy bees buzzing around the organic farm. Three busy hives of honeybees survived the winter, beating the odds – a 61% survival rate was reported for Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands as a whole.
Nature-based tourists steadily stream from near and far to Salt Spring Island to experience the moderate rainforest-maritime climate, beautiful hiking trails and seemingly untouched spits of pebbled beaches, and the beautiful foliage peppering the landscape.
Salt Spring Island has long been an internationally recognized haven for artists, and a drive around the island will show signs dotting roads and laneways to denote each studio.
On Tuesday, April 16, Her Honour Judith Guichon, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, visited Salt Spring Island as part of a broader tour of the Gulf Islands. While on Salt Spring, Her Honour visited Gulf Islands Secondary School, Foxglove Farm, the Salt Spring Abattoir, Salt Spring Vineyards, Salt Spring Island Cheese Company, the Salt Spring Library, and Meadowbrook Seniors Residence.
This weekend Harbour House will be celebrating the fall grape harvest with a three course menu featuring local grapes and Salt Spring Vineyards wine pairings.
